[ hinata blinks, staring at tsukishima for a second, hands still in his pockets as he regards him. it takes a second replay of that in his head before he fully comprehends.

[oh my god.] When was at the Halloween Dance, and why... [he looks away, cheeks coloring.] You've spent time around him, you know why. He's amazing. I don't know why he said yes to me, though.
[he cards his fingers through his hair.] I know you're a good friend to him, I'm not saying that you're awful or something. I just know you don't like me, and want the best for Kenma, and I don't want you trying to convince him to break up with me because you and I don't get along. It's...it wouldn't be fair to put him in that position.
[ hinata's a little stunned that tsukishima is showing that he has Actual Real Feelings more than anything else--it's the first time he's ever even heard the guy say something nice, let alone have feelings about it, and he stares at him with his mouth open, though it's not meant to be rude.
eventually, he shuts it, though, bristling. ] What--I'm not gonna do that! [ because the idea feels ridiculous, even if he's not able to disseminate why out of his head besides a giant red exclamation point that says no. ] It's not like I'm dating you--euuuugh--and, anyway, who cares about that kinda stuff!!
[ hinata inhales a big breath and promptly jabs tsukishima in the chest with his finger. ] Besides, as long as you're nice to him, it's okay!! Cause he's the best, and you better make sure that he feels like the best all the time, or else!
[wow, rude as fuck, he totally as Actual Real Feelings (as much as he'd really rather not).]
How am I supposed to know what you would or wouldn't do! It just seems like the sort of thing someone would do if they were trying to protect someone they care about! [he's heard girls in his class talking about their boyfriends, and the other girls talk about how some of them are wonderful and how some of them are awful, and the girls dating awful ones are always being encouraged to dump them. tsukishima is pretty sure he fits under hinata's "awful" category.]
And eww, thank god I'm not dating you. [that makes him feel kind of nauseous, but he hides it by increasing his glower and loom when hinata decides to poke him in the chest.] If I ever do something to hurt him, I'll let you kick my ass. It'd be nothing less than what I deserve.

[ hinata stares at tsukishima like he's sizing him up, head craned back a little to look him properly in the eyes. it's edging closer to his dangerously intense face than it is to him being a total goofball. kenma means a lot to shouyou--he was not kidding when he declared him his best friend out of the blue. the two of them bonded a ton, and it's so, so important to him that--if this is what kenma wants--it's going to be okay.

[ as far as he can tell, tsukishima's serious about it. if he's serious, it's okay. ] I'm gonna do it if you do! You better be nice to him, and....give him lots of kisses and stuff!

[it's hard not to squirm under hinata's more intense gaze, because when you get down under all the energy and idiocy, the kid can be downright terrifying. but admitting to his discomfort feels...almost like losing, and in the wake of his new character development, losing isn't something he's quite as comfortable with anymore.]
