YO! This is Hinata! Leave a message and I'll call you back after practice! ( TEXT | VOICE | VIDEO ) #1493 SPEED DIAL ( DAICHI ➓ UKAI ➓ KAGEYAMA ➓ KENMA ➓ NISHINOYA ➓ YACHI )
oh ummm oikawa-san the grand king! cause...kageyama was The King for a while (he still kind of is but now he's like an ok king instead of a big jerk king) but oikawa-san was a lot better than him........ so he was the grand king!!!!!
YEAH!!! back in middle school he was on this team, kitagawa daichii oikawa-san played for them 2 but that was before we rly started playing and they were rly rly good and my team-- we didnt even rly have a team, it was just me and a couple of friends that i taught 2 play but we were still sort of a team! we got put up against them in the 1st match and we lost bc i mean u've been here 4ever u've seen kageyama toss hes amazing and we hadnt even played a real game as a team b4 but it hurt, u kno? to lose like that when id been training so hard so i promised him that id beat him someday after we lost!!! and i wouldnt stop until i did!!!!!!!!!
now were on the same team and were a pretty good team, too!!! but we still compete a lot! and i still want to be better than him so i can beat him someday!!!!
not that competitions aren't usually intense, but... there's definitely something that's more satisfying, competing against someone you know has worked hard just to try and beat you.
yeah!!!!!!!! yeah yeah yeah i get it!!!!!! like competing w/ a bunch of ppl is great but in the end i like competing w/ kageyama the best!!! what u said about drive's right cause i dont think anybody loves volleyball as much as i do except maybe kageyama so that makes playing even more fun i think plus hes rly rly good so when hes good i want to be as good as he is and then even better hes the best so i want 2 be the best, too! u definitely get it!!
whats ur rival like, rin-senpai?? is he here??? he must love swimming a lot too!!
[that is, roughly, how he feels about Haru; granted, he would have only put things in those terms when he was 12 and hyperactively obsessed with Haru's swimming, but]
[(but now he's pretending he's a cool kid and keeping his obsession for Haru's swimming within acceptably cool parameters)]
my rival's here, yeah. he's got an effortless kind of natural style, it's pretty thrilling to watch him cut through the water so easily. but it's even better getting a fire lit under his ass.
[ok, maybe... he's still basically 12 and going on and on about Haru's swimming]
his name's haruka nanase. he was the weird guy with blue eyes at the BBQ, carrying around the water bottle.
oh!!! i met him at the bbq he dumped his water on my head i needed it tho!!!
do u guys get 2 swim here a lot?? i still rly want 2 come watch u guys and u got to compete a lot, right?? and u'll get to keep doing it--unless u both go to the olympics, uohhhh!!! then u can be on the same team!!!
it sounds like hes a genius!!! like, really naturally good at swimming, u kno?? ppl like that r crazy
im not rly like that w/ volleyball i mean....im kinda short..... and it took me a lot of work 2 get 2 where i am now but i dont think i would have gotten as far if i didnt have kageyama there 2 make me want to go farther
you can come watch a practice of ours if you don't distract anybody.
[the rest of it -- gives Rin pangs in his chest. he remembers being younger, and not thinking he'd ever match up to stunning natural talents, like Haru, like the boys he swam with abroad, who has bigger frames and longer arms and legs, and always left him coughing up water]
[he'd had to work hard to surpass those gifted with natural advantages, and it's made him a stronger competitor mentally and physically. he understands, now, why Hinata's love for volleyball is so fierce -- he's had to earn his place in that world, every step of the way, and you didn't do that for something you didn't love]
people with natural ability are amazing, but hard work is what gets you to the international stage. being tall is better in swimming, too, but i'm not gonna let some six foot guy, or some guy who's always had it easy, take first place from me.
i wont give up!!!!! i never will!!!!!!!! its my dream 2 b the next little giant and no walls too big to stop me!!! i have a great team and a great coach and all the right ways to get there so im gonna keep working hard so i can!!!!!!!
[ hinata is so so fired up right now. rin's got a good talent for motivational speeches...and hinata definitely feels like he understands him even more than he did before. ]
i want 2 be like u, rin-senpai!!! just, w/ volleyball instead of swimming! hehe :)
[Rin feels -- proud, embarrassed, and flattered. he wonders, for one of those delusions of grandeur moments (which won't be delusions when he makes them real), if this is the kind of feeling he'll get as an Olympic swimmer. he wants to inspire athletes like Hinata, and feel that warm glow of what he's just felt on an even bigger scale. he wants to be worthy of someone looking up to him, and maybe with people like Hinata putting their faith in him, he will be]
i could show you some wet training that could help you out. swimming is helpful for almost any sport, but especially volleyball, since it strengthens your arms, legs, and stamina, all at once.
uhhh the forwards one!!!!! where you go all whoosh whooosh and cut through the water and you have to pick your head up to the side!!! thats the 1 they taught us in class
[ your sound effects are literally negative effective in text, shouyou ]

[grins, on the other side of the screen]
i definitely know how you feel. it must be energising to have your rival on your team, always pushing you to do your best.
my rival's in another school, but we had joint practices a lot. competitions were always really intense because of it.
