[ hinata has no idea what's wrong with momoi, but even he was quick to notice that things weren't great when they talked during 'speed friending'. and he definitely did not forget about his promise of ice cream, so as soon as the event ends, he brightens up from across the lawn and jogs over, waving. ]
Of course! [just being around hinata is energizing; it's hard to feel mopey and sleepy when he's bouncing all over the place, smiling his thousand watt smile while he waves his arms around. she stands, pushing her chair in properly before leading the way towards the ice cream place.] Did you have fun with the event?
Uh-huh! It was kinda nice to meet a bunch of new people. [ brightly: hinata really does enjoy doing that! he needs to gather more friends that don't play sports, and more friends in general! that's the benefit of living in a small town before he lived here. he's already used to this life.
as he moves to start walking with her, he asks ] How about you?
It really was! I've been spending all my time with you sports boys, so it was fun to get to meet some people outside that circle. [besides, she was a little rusty at making friends; she'd been fortunate enough to have the same friend group for so many years, she didn't need to venture outside it much. this was excellent practice.]
Uh-huh!! I thought so too. [ hinata only thinks about one thing though, and he looks down at his hands, beaming at them as he recalls that stinging spiking feeling that never gets old ]
And--I got to play volleyball! I even ended up on the same team with Kageyama, so it worked out awesome! This whole thing has been fun!!
Oh, I bet you played so good that you beat everyone! [she's seen them practicing together, and she doesn't have to know much about volleyball to know that they're good. she takes one of his hands, swinging them as they walk.] I was on a hockey team, and I didn't do very well.
[ hinata's face instantly colors when she takes his hand, turning bright pink in the cheeks but letting her swing them. o-oh, okay...!!! satsuki is holding his hand be cool hinata ] Hockey...? I don't think I've ever even played hockey before...I think we just got really lucky. Or the Landlord wanted to see how awesome we could be!!
[hinata has no chill in his entire tiny body, but she was kind of expecting it, so she just thinks his blush is absolutely precious.] I think my problem was that the puck was too small. I'm used to bigger things, like basketballs. But I bet if the Landlord saw you, he was super impressed. Kageyama and Hinata are an amazing team.
[ GOES EVEN REDDER.... STOP COMPLIMENTING HIM HE'S GONNA DIE ]
Uohh, you think so...? I wish you could see us play in a real match, Satsuki! It's awesome--every time I get to spike the ball it just makes my heart go guohhh, you know? Like, with adrenaline and stuff! It's way more exciting than a practice match against a bunch of people who don't even know how to play. [ a beat. ] And The Grand King. He knew how to play. He's such a good setter, we almost lost!
I bet you're really aweosme when you're playing against people who actually know what they're doing, and who've had the same kind of really intense training. I know Daichan hates when he can't play against people who're as good at the game as he is. [but something he said catches her attention, and makes her eyebrows raise.] The Grand King? [that sounds...really awesome, and intimidating.] Who's the Grand King?
The Grand King's--oh. It's Oikawa-san! [ hinata laughs a little sheepishly at that, oops. his nickname sounds extra dumb out loud. he's gonna try to explain it though. ] People call Kageyama the King of the Court sometimes, because he was really a huge jerk in junior high about being a setter--even though he was really good. And I mean, he's still a jerk now [ vehemently defending that tbh ] but...I like hitting his tosses, he's the only one who I can do the bukyaa-kapow! toss with.
But anyway!! So, Kageyama is a really great setter, but Oikawa's even better. So he's...the Grand King. Get it?
Oh! [wow. she knew that oikawa was an upperclassman, but not that he was so wildly talented; talented enough to earn the nickname "the grand king".] I never realized that Tochan was quite that impressive. Now I'm going to get all flustered when I see him again.
[she laughs, but her face twists into a grimace at the talk about him being a huge jerk.] Daichan is a genius too, and he was an asshole for a long time. But I guess like Kageyama, he got better eventually. By your logic, if Tochan is the Grand King of volleyball, then Tetsukin is the Grand King of basketball.
Daichan is Aomine, right? He was the one who said volleyball was boring. [ hinata pulls a face, but he's interested anyway and asks-- ] But he's your friend, right? And who's Tetsukin? So many people...!!
Ah, sorry, I call all my close friends by nicknames. Daichan is Aomine Daiki, who...most definitely would say something like that. [she heaves a huge sigh.] I'm sorry about him, his personality is kind of hard to handle sometimes. Tetsukun is Kuroko Tetsuya, and I wouldn't be surprised if you haven't met him yet. He's kind of small, with blue hair, and has absolutely zero presence. He could be walking right behind us and we'd never notice.

Aww, that's so sweet!! [she bumps their hips together happily.] I'm getting a lot better at remembering all your teammates! It's just hard since more of them keep popping up everywhere all the time.
I'm sorry you have a teammate like that, though. Daichan definitely takes some getting used to, so I hope this teammate of yours is at least a little easier to handle. [she pauses.] You aren't talking about Kageyama-kun, are you?
