[ Kenma spares a few glances around Hinata to be sure he won't run into anything or trip, but he does notice that the place is, thankfully, cleaner than it had been before. He listens amiably as his friend lists off activities he expects and then lifts his shoulders in a small shrug. ]
I wouldn't mind, if you'd want to. I don't think I'd be able to run with you two, though. [ He... really wouldn't be able to keep up - or even want to. ] We should go to the pet place sometime soon too.
Really?? [ see hinata basically sparkling at that, clutching his fists in front of him. kenma tosses...!! his eyes are sparkling. it's so bad. ] That's okay!! I'll just hit your tosses, that's totally fine! I've been wanting to since I found out you were a setter!!
Yeah! You're still gonna help me pick out a dog, right? I wanna give him a cool name! [ ... ] Or her!
[ He nods slowly, and it's probably impossible to say no to Hinata when he's like this, honestly. Kenma can't help his faint smile. ] I hope that'll be a good present.
[ Another nod. ] Yeah. I don't know how much help I'll be but I'll go with you.
[ Something seems to dawn on him after a moment, and he pulls out his phone to check it before putting it back in his pocket, slowing to a halt. ]
[ His smile is faint, bashful, and it takes him a moment before he can glance up and meet Hinata's gaze, but there's warmth in that look and his next words. ]
Happy birthday. Thanks for being my best friend.
[ It feels... odd to finally say it out loud, a tad embarrassing, but it's also really nice. It's the truth, after all, and Kenma is 100% grateful for this friendship. ]
hinata blinks for a second as he absorbs everything that was just said and the look on kenma's face. there's a moment of startled, perfect wide-eyed confusion before it clicks, and the smile that breaks across hinata's face is literal sunshine, ear to ear, all teeth. ]
Kenma--!! [ he can't even keep his eyes open and a laugh bursts out of him, just absolutely exuding happiness. ] Wah! You totally surprised me! Thank you so much!!
[ this is normally where he'd go in for a hug, but when he bounds forward he stops for a second, pausing before he actually just does that because if spending lots of time with kenma taught him anything, it's a little bit of chill. instead, he just beams and clutches his fists in front of him, though there's a moment where it was pretty clear he wanted to go for a hug. ] I've never had someone come and wish me happy birthday right at midnight!! I'm so glad you're my best friend, too!

He wouldn't have minded, because it's Hinata, but as it is he lifts his arms, holding them open in what he hopes is a welcoming manner as his gaze flits to the side shyly. ]
[ oh, well, okay, if kenma's offering. hinata literally lights up, sparkles practically floating around his head before he bounds forward to close the space and give kenma the best bear hug he can for being 5'5". to be fair, a hinata shouyou hug is a pretty good hug, and he darts backwards after an appropriate amount of time and absolutely beams at him. ]
I'm really glad I got lost in Tokyo! And that you got to come here, too! It's been really awesome to get to see you every day.[ he ends up laughing, because it was kind of a silly way to meet someone, but hinata can't be more happy because of it. he likes all of the members of nekoma (well, kuroo sort of weirds him out what is his hair but kenma is his absolute favorite. he's so grateful for his friendship it's hard to even put it in words. ] C'mon, we should get a snack or something, I think we have watermelon in the fridge!
