YO! This is Hinata! Leave a message and I'll call you back after practice! ( TEXT | VOICE | VIDEO ) #1493 SPEED DIAL ( DAICHI ➓ UKAI ➓ KAGEYAMA ➓ KENMA ➓ NISHINOYA ➓ YACHI )
[doesn't know about "weirding anyone out" because...]
Hah, really! We actually share birthdays, so I guess we're brothers in arms--or something [dorky] like that! He helped me find one of my cats when I first met him, and it's been smooth sailing since.
[don't talk like you're dating that gross dude who gets off scaring people with scary movies and pictures]
He never mentioned being a captain, though.
[returns the ball, with a boop! of his own. he's getting the hang of this, but it also helps that hinata's going easy on him.]
You're a first year, right, Hinata-kun? You started playing volleyball when you entered high school, or did you play since before then?
Yeah, I'm a first year! [ hinata grins and calls out "nice receive!" for makoto when he gets it back to him, because that's what a proper teammate does. you're a real volley now, makoto.
but, he can maintain conversation easily in doing this, so he sends it back carefully. ] Um...kinda both, I guess? My junior high only had a girl's volleyball team until my last year. But--I really wanted to play, really bad! So, I trained and taught myself how to play for two years, and I played with the girls and the old ladies in my neighborhood that had a club and I got a bunch of my friends to toss for me--and, eventually, we made a team! We weren't really very good, and I was the only one that knew how to play, really, but... it was still good, and I still got to be on the court.
[ and lose to kageyama, but, that's a story for another day.
he keeps receiving the ball as this is going on, easy as anything, and hinata just looks really, really happy as he's saying this, smile on his face kind of soft and warm compared to his usual megawatt smiles. ] But being on Karasuno...it's the first time I've ever had that "team feeling", you know?
[and makoto knows; he grabs the ball and walks over to hinata. a hand drops on his head, and he ruffles all that crazy orange hair like he would to his little brother--rough but sweet and caring, no malice in between.]
I know. The first time I had that feeling was when Rin transferred to my elementary school and he, Haru, Nagisa, and I swam in a relay together.
It's great, isn't it?
[to be a team, to be part of one, to consider that team your family]
